BASI Pilates

What is the BASI Pilates method ?

BASI is the acronym for “Body Art and Science International,” the method founded in 1989 by Rael Isacowitz, who has over 30 years of experience, practice, and teaching under his belt. Considered one of the world’s leading Pilates method experts, he is the author of “Pilates”, which has been called the best Pilates book not written by Joseph.

Today, BASI Pilates is a premier academy for Pilates teacher training, providing training recognized internationally and by the PILATES METHOD ALLIANCE.

The BASI mission is to continue the work of Joseph and Clara Pilates, training top-notch teachers through in-depth study of anatomy, physiology, and science, while never forgetting the aesthetic quality of every movement.

BASI Pilates in Italy

The BASI Pilates in Italy method was introduced to Italy in 2011 thanks to Ilaria Pulidori, a certified BASI Pilates Teacher and, since 2015, a BASI Pilates licensee in Italy.

It all began with the first teacher training courses at her studio in Prato (Pilates in Tuscany), and she then brought BASI method training courses to Italy.

Starting in 2020, given the large number of student requests, the new BASI Pilates Headquarters opened in the center of Prato, a modern and spacious center dedicated to training future Pilates teachers.

Today, the number is constantly growing in Italy, with approximately 400 BASI Pilates certified teachers.

Benefits and features of the BASI Pilates method

Pilates preserves the classical repertoire and the essence of Joseph Pilates philosophy, complementing it with contemporary experience and scientific knowledge.

This creates a Pilates method for awareness and balance, from the muscles to the mind, but also for concentration and precision, to achieve psychophysical balance for the entire person.

Be You Pilates Studio in Florence, Be You Pilates Studio in Scandicci, and Be You Pilates Studio in Lido di Camaiore all practice the BASI Pilates Method, thanks to the passion of Cristiana Desantis, a certified BASI Pilates, Machine, and Mat instructor.

Once a student at Ilaria Pulidori’s BASI Pilates school in Tuscany in Prato, she then attended Rael Isacowitz‘s Mentor Program with Ilaria Pulidori and Maria Sylla, reaching a high level of teaching.

Those who practice the BASI Method will benefit from being taught by highly professional and consistently trained teachers, as the BASI Pilates approach is based on ongoing professional development where Pilates instructors are encouraged to continually deepen their knowledge.
